# FENLIGHT // Search results and AI-visibility intelligence > Google search results with strict engine provenance, discussion discovery, a Google-based visibility radar, and an MCP server for agents. Local packs and shopping are opt-in add-ons. ## Engine status - google: production - duckduckgo: beta - bing, brave, yahoo: experimental. Often blocked from cloud IPs; such requests return 502 engine_unavailable and charge nothing. ## Core capabilities - Search: positions 1-100, engine provenance on every response, never a silent engine substitution. A basic search is the results page only: organic results and the features on that page (People Also Ask, knowledge graph, answer box, related searches, AI Overview when reported). - Local pack (add-on): Google Maps place IDs (ChIJ...), CIDs, coordinates, ratings, review counts, phones. Ask for it with `features: ["local_pack"]` (MCP: `local_pack: true`). - Shopping (add-on): title, display price, numeric price_value, currency, merchant. Ask for it with `features: ["shopping"]` (MCP: `shopping: true`). - Visibility radar: discussion threads, listicle outreach targets and question gaps from Google results. Its score is derived from Google results; it does not query AI assistants. - Brand footprint: owned properties, entity profiles, local listings, third-party mentions. - AI Overview: reported as present, absent or unmeasured_by_upstream. - AI answers: what AI assistants answer, with live web search, when a buyer asks about your category: brand and competitor mentions, citations and cited domains. ## Pricing (credits) - A live page of up to ten results: 3. The same search repeated by your key within 24 hours is served from a cache that is private to your key: 1 per page. `fresh: true` searches live at the live price; `max_age_seconds: N` accepts a cached result at most N seconds old. - Add-ons, once per request and only if they return something: local pack +3, shopping +3. - Keyword ideas (`POST /v1/keywords/ideas`): the results page as above, plus 3 per autocomplete call that returns suggestions. Autocomplete is always live. - AI answers (`POST /v1/ai/answers`), per call to each assistant: ChatGPT 200. Not yet available: Claude, Perplexity, Gemini. - A request is charged for what it served, never more than it was held for, and nothing if it fails. The charge is in the `X-Fenlight-Credits-Used` header. ## Authentication Every API call needs a key, sent as `Authorization: Bearer ` or `X-API-Key: `. Self-serve signup is currently paused; contact us for access. ## API endpoints - `POST /api/discover/{engine}` (or `POST /v1/serp/{engine}`) - `POST /api/radar` (or `POST /v1/geo/radar`) - `POST /api/brand` (or `POST /v1/company`) - `POST /v1/keywords/ideas`: keyword ideas for a seed from Google autocomplete, People Also Ask and related searches, each with its sources and an intent label. No search volumes. Priced as a results page plus each autocomplete call that returns suggestions (see Pricing). - `POST /v3/serp/google/organic/live/advanced`: DataForSEO-compatible live endpoint. - `POST /v1/ai/answers`: put a buyer's question to AI assistants that run a live web search, and see whether your brand and competitors are mentioned, with the citations and cited domains behind each answer. Body: `prompt`, `brand`, optional `brand_domain`, `competitors`, `country`, `language`, `engines`, `samples` (1-5). Priced per assistant call (see Pricing). - `POST /v1/search`, `/v1/search/news`, `/v1/search/videos`: drop-in search, a `query` in. `/v1/search` answers the organic results and the features Google shows on the page in `data.serp_features` (knowledge graph, answer box, People Also Ask, related searches, top stories, videos, images, discussions and forums, AI Overview; a key is there only when the page had it), and on each result the sitelinks, thumbnail, rating, rating count and price when Google gave them. `/v1/search/news` and `/v1/search/videos` answer real news and video results (with source and thumbnail, and for videos the channel and duration) for the google engine only: one results page whatever the depth, never cached. `data.dropin_version` is 2 and `data.type` is `web`, `news` or `videos`. The local pack and shopping add-ons are not available on these routes. - `GET /v1/account/usage`: credits used and recent requests for your key. - `GET /v1/billing/packages`, `GET /llms.txt`, `GET /v1/agent.json` ## MCP - MCP over Streamable HTTP: `POST /mcp`. `tools/list` is public, as is `initialize`; `tools/call` needs a key (`Authorization: Bearer `). Protocol versions 2025-11-25, 2025-06-18, 2025-03-26 and 2024-11-05. Stateless: no session id, and `GET /mcp` is 405 because there is no stream to offer. - Claude Desktop: `npx mcp-remote https:///mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer ${FENLIGHT_API_KEY}"`. Cursor and VS Code connect to the URL directly with the same header. - The JSON-RPC bridge `POST /mcp/rpc` (or `POST /v1/mcp/rpc`) is the same handler, kept for older clients. - Tools: google_serp, find_discussion_candidates, extract_local_places, extract_shopping_results, geo_citation_radar, company_serp_footprint, keyword_ideas, ai_answers (`POST /v1/ai/answers` for one assistant, ChatGPT by default).
